Established in 2015, Dress Hire AU was founded by Director Ellie Dunstan during her final year of university, inspired by a simple idea - designer dresses shouldn’t be worn once and forgotten. After spending thousands on outfits for special occasions, Ellie saw an opportunity to offer Australian women a smarter way to wear the latest styles without the hefty price tag.

What began with fewer than 20 dresses in her parents’ spare bedroom quickly grew into a leading Australian dress hire destination. In 2018, Dress Hire AU opened its Eltham warehouse, allowing customers to try on dresses in person. Continuing its rapid growth, the brand expanded into a 400sqm warehouse in 2024, supporting a growing collection and community of women choosing a more considered way to do fashion.

Today, Dress Hire AU is home to Australia’s largest physical dress hire store in Greensborough, alongside its Eltham operations hub. Customers can enjoy in-store try-ons with no appointment needed, as well as express delivery nationwide - making it easier than ever to find the perfect outfit for any occasion.
